//So I've been thinking about the many iterations I have of Darius and I'm realizing just how different he is in each verse and setting. Like, looking at the verses I have for him on another blog of mine (kind of an archive of things), it's really incredible how just putting Darius into a different setting and situation really changes his character.
//Like, in his Historical Fantasy/Fiction/Monster Blood Tattoo verse, he's a confident, cheerful, laid-back young man who's pretty carefree when he's not on duty, while also being skilled, faithful, and competent when he is on duty. His duty of being that of a Leer/Videre in his homeland and the special kind of skillsman/hunter/tracker/bodyguard skills that comes with it.
//This carries over in his Destiny 2 setting, where he's very much the same except a little more reserved due to trauma (losing his family to the Hoard of Xivu Arath & using his "dragon's wish" to time travel to try and stop her/do the vengeance thing over and over until he realizes vengeance is a dead end and simply wishes to be with his family again.) He's still got the dragon wish & the wish his father used to bring him back to life when he was a little boy (Baribus making a deal with a wish dragon to bring him back), as well as all the effects his vengeance quest took him on. But even with that, he's still openly friendly, confident, and competent in what he does and navigating the situations he's in and encounters.
//And then we get to his Mando verse where he's 200% more reserved and reclusive than his other verses, and is still learning to navigate things with the skill and deftness his other iterations have. I'm still trying to figure out why, though I think it may have to do with the fact that in the SW verse, Darius doesn't recover in the same way as he does in his other verses and that he may not pick up on social cues because that was more done via his Force/Empath connection. I'm not sure but that's my theory right now.
//anyway, it's just been really interesting thinking about how different Darius is in his different verses and what I can and need to do to keep him a little more consistent across his verses.
